I believe he does not kill you, it just speeds up the whole scene, if I remember correctly.

No he kills you. If you hide behind the tree for too long, he pulls out out by the leg, but then you have the option to grab a rock while he's dragging you. If you don't, the water bandit comes and says they got Christa and to kill Clem, which then Winston shoots her.
