It's an interesting concept. The rain is lethal and one drop can kill you. You can't drink tap water either. I picked up this book yesterday, since it was some kind of apocalyptic, lethal rain story. From reviews on the Internet, it's either a love/hate book. People either love it, or they hate it.
I wonder what I'll think once I read it.

Got up to about chapter 10 maybe more in half a day. I got hit by a ton of feels. The protagonist, Ruby, finds her mum and baby brother dead.

I finished it. So, a review; Ruby was an annoying brat at times. She cared about her makeup, her clothes. I've never seen someone so obnoxious. THERE'S A FUCKING LETHAL RAIN APOCALYPSE, WOMAN! But I felt that she developed over time. She wasn't cold, she felt grief and loss, and there were times when I felt sorry for her. There were times where the story hit me hard and I felt 'the feels'. Her mum and brothers death, Simon's death (Simon, I must say, was my favourite. I was hoping he'd live, but I knew it, I fucking knew he'd die. The two of them were bonding (since she rejected him the whole time he was her step-dad) and when character development starts happening, the story starts screaming 'KILL THEM'.) couple of other deaths that I can't name.
The dogs (the terrier, Whitby, uhh, the other one, and Darling)I love dogs. And when she rescued them, I thought 'GOOD ON YA, GIRL'. And then it all went to shit. One by one, the dogs started getting abandoned until Whitby and Darling were left. And then Whitby got left behind cause he was a danger! He was drinking poisoned water (which doesn't seem to affect animals... HOORAY!) and they left him. I got misty eyes at that.
The explanation behind the rain makes sense. I rolled with it. It COULD happen. So now I'm paranoid. Of tap water as well.
The entire time up to this one point I was thinking 'If only it was a zombie apocalypse' and Darius Spratt says 'We'd know what to do if there were zombies' and I was like 'YES!' Darius was cool. I liked him. He was a NERD! And Princess (bin bag kid) Was sort of.. Depressing. When she took off the bin bags and revealed who she was, and her appearance was described my thoughts screamed 'CLEMENTINE'
Other stuff, blah blah blah, trying to find her dad, blah blah.
Over all, it was good. I liked it. Not sure if I love it though. I don't hate it. Maybe I'm in the middle.
Can't wait for the sequel 'The Storm'. Coming in 2015.
