Shit gets crazy in Chapters 6 and 7... I had no clue that the whole thing was set-up... really threw me for a loop. Seriously, fuck Josh. I mean, even though he clearly has problems... I wonder why Chris, or anyone, never mentioned his medication before then... Like, wouldn't Chris probably have asked if he was taking it? Anyway, I suppose I don't blame Josh too much... I don't know.
Anyway, seems I'm doing better than I thought. I didn't do anything at the part when I had to choose to shoot Chris or Ash, thinking that maybe both of them would live... like, it was just a test? It made some sort of sense to me, since the Psycho didn't kill Sam, and only killed Josh when Chris made a choice between him and Ash. Seriously thought I'd gotten them both killed...
I was also freaking out over Sam, since she was caught by the Psycho/Josh. I was kicking myself for that though, because it was the part in the demos, so I knew the right choice to make and fucked it up anyway. Funny to see that the only time someone mentions Mike's fingers is when you're given a choice to do it as Sam, and then at no other time does anyone even ask him what happened to his fingers.
I'm not sure if I got the Stranger killed or not... I mean, I felt there was more to him... The part as Chris running from the Wendigo was fucking terrifying, especially since his death totem was at that exact spot, as was a fortune totem, so I knew that what I did would determine if he lived or died. You know, for real this time. Fortunately, I kept blasting that fucking Wendigo with the shotgun, and Ash got the door open for me.
And I do want to point out... The Butterfly Effect menu says that Chris lived because Ash open the door, and she only did that because Chris didn't shoot her. BUT, at that point, she was practically begging Chris to shoot her and save himself. Like, really? I mean, I guess I wouldn't blame her... Although, I'm not sure, because she only did that because I saved her earlier. I would hope that, if it's already to the point where she begged Chris to save himself, she wouldn't let him die by not opening the door when the Wendigo chases him.
As for Mike, he's made my top 3 into a Top 4. Dude's a total badass, and honestly, I believe that he wasn't trying anything with Em(didn't pursue it as Matt)... I mean, he had to have truly cared about Jess, doing all the shit he did to try and avenge her.
Em's still probably my least favorite... Because, at least Josh going crazy, seeing this weird Doctor, thinking he's some sort of hero, at least that's interesting. Em.... Eh.She was bitten by a Wendigo, and, if I remember my Wendigo lore correctly, means she's "infected"... And I take issue with that, because it seems like if she had the flare gun, then she won't have been bitten, and I mostly gave the gun to Matt because the guidance totem told me to.... I mean, I thought I was supposed to trust them.

Alien Isolation was one of the only horror games I ever got anywhere in, simply because the tension was awesome and I do quite like Alien. I played it for like 6 or 7 hours, still never finished it. No idea if it's really long or I'm really shit.

I have made poor choices. Got another character killed. Spoilers for Chapter 8... Yeah, Wendigo lore contradicts itself. I was 100% positive about shooting Emily since, in the Wendigo lore I know, their bites are infectious. Until Dawn acknowledges this, and says no. Immediately afterwards playing as Ash, I find that the Stranger was bitten, and their bites are not infectious.
Unfortunately, I could have avoided that if I'd simply taken a look at the totems before making the choice, since a fortune totem shows Mike pointing a gun at someone, but not firing and putting it down. Same scene. ._. As for where I am now... Chapter 9 spoilers: Being chased by the Wendigos as Mike is fucking tense. Like, holy shit, I was shaking, and then those bits where you have to stay still? Yeah... So far though, I haven't fucked up any of the action sequences. Also, two of my previous choices came back to help me.
Since I gave one of the Stranger's Wolves a bone, he came back to help me navigate the Sanitarium and fight the Wendigos. Also, since I cut Mike's fingers off rather than try and get the trap open, I still have the machete, which has helped.

It feels like it drags itself for a bit sometimes, but overall it felt to me like I was playing a sci-fi version of Amnesia, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The game did give me a few scares and had its tense moments, but the long gameplay and backtracking kinda killed it for me, plus the kinda awkward ending it had wasn't satisfying. Overall though I'd give it either a 7.75 or 8/10.

Yeah, that sounds about right, it did drag at times because of the extreme length, (probably the only time you can complain about a game being to long) and the ending wasn't good, but overall it was a good Alien game, something that can't be said for ACM.

You know you could have just walked past the hand and its bear trap and not lose your fingers or the machete.

Finally finished it, and this is fucking awesome. Seriously one of the best interactive narratives I've played. My choices(just copying straight form the game menu so I don't miss anything): "Any of your business": Sam respected Chris' privacy, Chris was happy to see Sam, Chris continued to trust Sam. "Rats with bushy tails": Chris chose not to shoot the squirrel, nature remained in balance. Seriously, this choice seemed pointless. "The Soul of discretion": Ashley encouraged Matt to use the telescope, Matt saw Mike and Emily flirting, Matt confronted Mike. "Whose side are you on": Matt sided with Jessica during the fight with Emily, Emily was aggressive with Matt. "Be her hero": Mike came to Jessica's aid immediately, Jessica appreciated Mike's heroism, Mike continued to impress Jessica, Jessica was a pushover. "Something for later": Josh locked the baseball bat in the cupboard, ...But Sam made the right choices yo avoid the Psycho in the Cellar, Sam was caught in the old hotel. "To the rescue": Mike stumbled when chasing after Jessica, Mike was too late: Jessica was dead, Matt was all alone in the mine. "...And which one will die": Chris said that he would save Ashley, Ashley was grateful and felt indebted to Chris, Josh felt betrayed and antagonized Chris, Chris considered violence. "At what price": Mike hacked off his own fingers, Mike still had a usable machete, Sam rescued Mike from the Sanatorium. "Man's best friend": Mike kicked the wolf, ...But he made amends, the wolf guided Mike around the Sanatorium, Mike's new friend survived. "On the same page": Matt supported Emily's plan to go to the tower and get help, Matt fired the flare to signal for help. "Run or hide": Sam got herself caught, Chris and Ashley found Sam, Sam needed to be rescued by Mike. "In self defense": Matt walked calmly through the herd, Matt and Emily escaped the threat unscathed. "Who gets the gun": Emily gave the flare gun to Matt, Emily had no defense against the attack and was bitten, Mike faced a dilemma. "Save Yourself": Matt jumped to safety, Matt was still alive, ...And survived until dawn. "Forewarning is forearmed": Ashley took the scissors, Ashley stabbed the Psycho, the Psycho gave Ashley a black eye, Chris hit Josh. "Stick Together": Ashley followed Chris, Ashley failed to see who was in the workshop, Chris and Ashley found a dummy in Sam's clothes. "Point Blank": Chris didn't shoot Ashley, Ashley was concerned about Chris as he left, Ashley opened the door, saving Chris' life. "Once Bitten": Emily was bitten, Mike shot Emily. "Left Behind": Ashley wouldn't leave Chris, Ashley ignored the voice, Ashley joined the others, Chris was safe. "Important Discovery": Sam found Hannah's journal in the mine, Josh heard the truth about the Monster, Josh recognized Hannah... And Hannah recognized Josh, Josh was alive, trapped and cannibalistic. "The Result of Chaos": Sam escaped, Mike escaped, Ashley escaped, Emily was shot by Mike, Chris escaped. "

The temptation to buy is so strong. Yet, the fear coupled with the $60 price tag are so strong too. This is going to sound like a baby question. Where does this dude: fall on a scale of 1 to 10 when talking about the scariest looking things in the game?
