Yep, looks like this isn't going to be a particularly good year for gaming, at least so far anyway. I hope it all turns around soon. We've still got Metal Gear Solid V coming out in September. Ah, forgot about that, well that looks fantastic, can't wait!

If there wasn't enough too prove that this was cancelled, Norman Reedus just tweeteed this out, further proving Silent Hills' cancellation:

Why exactly was it cancelled? Lack of funding or what?

Why exactly was it cancelled? Lack of funding or what? Alot of people think it has to do with Kojima leaving Konami, but it might also be something involving Del Toro. Before Silent Hills, he was working on another horror game called inSANE that was also cancelled.

Why exactly was it cancelled? Lack of funding or what? My guess is because Kojima left the company, that's my only guess.

Sad to say, but a lot of Del Toro's work is getting canned, he can't make that horror movie he wanted to make, and before that, his take on Beauty and the Beast got canned. I feel really bad for him.

But wait...What's this?
"...it was also mentioned that Reedus's contract with Konami has yet to expire, stating that he could return to lead in another Silent Hill game" (Kotaku article regarding Silent Hills' cancellation)
THERE'S STILL HOPE!!!

Without the minds behind it, there is sadly little hope.

Just had an epiphany. If Kojima decides to continue making video games, and if Norman Reedus and Del Toro were available to do it, we could "technically" get Silent Hills in the form of an IP.

The problem is, this petition can't do anything. It couldn't do anything even if it had a million supporters. There've been petitions for everything, most of them don't get done no matter how many signatures they have. Like that "Bloodborne for PC" petition with nearly 50K supporters- Fromsoft can't do a thing about that because Sony is holding Bloodborne hostage owns the Bloodborne IP. I'd say this is a pretty similar situation, Konami holds the rights to the SH franchise so Kojima couldn't start the project again even if he wanted to, which he probably doesn't considering the game would have to be developed again completely fresh, from the ground up.
