Yesterday at Sony's Gamescon conference, a trailer for a game called PT was announced. The trailer said that it was going to be the world's first interactive teaser, and was released shortly after the conference. The game involves the player traversing the same hallway apartment over and over again with drastic changes to the environment. While the demo seems unbeatable, some have been able to complete the game, including myself. For those of you who want to know the true meaning behind PT, open the spoiler below. After completion of PT, we find out that the demo is actually a teaser for the next installment in the Silent Hill series titled "Silent Hills". The game will be directed by Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima, and Pacific Rim director Guillermo Del Torro. The main character's actor is also revealed, but I'll let the video reveal that.

This "playable teaser" or whatever, started out amazing, scary as hell and fun, but the second half was just plain awful. It turns into the most cryptic, stupid puzzle I've ever seen, draining EVERY LAST drop of fun as you run around looking at everything while listening to the same sounds for over an hour with nothing happening since the game has no rules it's impossible to get the ending unless you're lucky I guess. Again I tried for hours, but should have watched the ending on youtube from the start and not wasted the time.

You're fucking kidding me. It's being directed by possibly the two least subtle men on the face of the planet. Granted, I like the things those guys made, but Jesus Christ, what they do good is NOT what Silent Hill should do good.

Bad news for PT fans. At yesterday's San Fransisco Film Festival, Del Toro confirmed that Silent Hills is in fact canceled, with PT to be removed from PSN this Saturday.

That Playable Teaser was fantastic, it really got to me. I thought it was going to be the rebirth of Silent Hill, but nope, Kojima left, and now this, goddamn it!

Damn, I was waiting for that game.
Even though a part of me thought that something might happen to Silent Hills after Konami removed virtually every sign of Kojima working for them. I just thought that they'll at least let him finish it.
Oh well. I guess I'll go back to SH2.

Battlefront 3 is going to be shit, then there's the paid mods shitstorm on Steam, and now Silent Hills is cancelled.
Well fuck, this really isn't a good time for the games industry, is it?

TWAU2 is definitely not happening, but we'll be getting Minecraft.
Not a good time for the industry indeed.

TTG getting more and more IPs up the wazoo.
Definitely not a good time for the industry.

Yep, looks like this isn't going to be a particularly good year for gaming, at least so far anyway. I hope it all turns around soon.
