I'd never go full bandit. I've even restrained my buddy Nate from killing people for their stuff. I'd say that I'm more of just a heroic survivor rather than a full on bandit or hero. I'll take care of people in my group, but I really couldn't care any less about strangers and I don't go out of my way to get into conflicts with other survivors. The most bandit type thing i've done was soley to prank my friend, he went AFK so i handcuffed him stole his gear and spread it round a forest and left.

The most bandit type thing i've done was soley to prank my friend, he went AFK so i handcuffed him stole his gear and spread it round a forest and left. You just reminded me of a hilarious story. This is before I accidentally killed Nate in the market. It was literally his first time playing and he spawned somewhere on the southern coast. I had been looting Berezino so we decided to run along the coast until we met up. It was nighttime so neither of us could see very well. After about half an hour of running along the coast toward each other Nate broke off into the forest when he thought he saw something. He didn't have any gear except for a few flares and the dark was making him edgy, so he popped a flare in the middle of the woods. I decided to have a little fun. I had my trusty AK with me and some ammo to spare so I crept up on him in the middle of the woods. He was crouched right on top of the flare and he was turning in circles so that he could keep an eye on everything at once. He said that he thought he saw something again but I lied to him and told him that I was still nowhere near him. I hid in a bush about 20 feet away from him while he continued to turn in circles and scan the area. The next time he had his back to me, I jumped out of the bush and began walking toward him while firing my AK in bursts above his head. He let out the highest pitched scream I'd ever heard and I was sure that it had shattered windows all the way from where he was to Elektro. He ran off into the woods just as my AK magazine went empty and I broke down laughing at him. He thought he was being attacked by bandits when he didn't have any weapons. I'm an asshole sometimes, but that was worth it in every way. I don't even regret using an entire magazine just to scare the shit out of him.

For those of you who want something similar to DayZ but can't run it and/or afford it there's a free game called Unturned which isn't quite as good as DayZ but it's very similar and still a lot of fun, also don't let the simplistic graphics put you off it's actually a fairly complex game with what you can do in it. Also there's vehicles which DayZ needs and doesn't have yet.

But DayZ is so much shinier... Even with the draw distance about the same as the distance between two adjacent books on a shelf.

The 2 problems with Dayz are A) It runs like ass on a lot of computers B) A lot of people don't know what they're buying into and that fixes those problems. I also just found out that Unturned is being made by one 16 year old which is really damn impressive.
