Yeah, I think I'll stick with Skyrim. Thanks.

I never had high hopes for that game, even when it was announced. Even if I had, World of Warcraft ate up most of the fun I ever had with MMOs, and I doubt ESO would have been able to top that. Guild Wars 2 is the only MMO i'll ever need.

So what do you all think of paying for mods? Personally, I think it's a good idea, but Valve being Valve they've fucked it. My main gripe is that Valve get 75% of it, and they need to sell 100 of them for you to get paid, so it'll be a while before you get shit. I also think it should be like a donate button instead of selling it like DLC. Then my other problem is that although they give you a 24 hour refund period, if something clashes with the mod after that and breaks it, your fucked.

I like the idea of modders getting paid, I like that, it makes it likely that the mod gets finished. BUT! The 75% tax is far to much, Valve didn't do anything, and it seemingly hurts the modders more. I would have liked it to be more like Patreon, or something like that, encouraging donations to keep the mods coming, not putting prices on the mods! Seriously, 99 cents for a weapon? They do realize this is pretty much Horse Armor all over again right?

And I have noticed some people that took mods from the Nexus which are free and are putting them up on the workshop charging for them, and there was one of the paid mods that got taken down because it used assets from a free mod. The whole thing is a shit storm.

Thing is, the concept itself of paying for mods isn't such a bad idea if the mod adds enough to the game to be worth paying for. What I mean is, things that would be like expansion packs or something, new quests maybe. Things like new swords or horse armour though, I don't think so. I agree with your point about donations though.

The whole thing is a shit storm. Yeah its a shitstorm, and let's not forget licences. Big movie company's don't care if you make a mod based on one of there films WHILE IT'S FREE! When you start charging, then they get pissed and the suing and copyright issues start flaring up. So say goodbye to the Game of Thrones mod for Mount and Blade Warband, and the Star Trek mod for Sins of a Solar Empire!
