This was probably the best season yet. Black Museum and USS Callister are fucking masterpieces, and all of the other episodes were great.

I've been slowly getting around to watching season 4 lately and just watched Crocodile. It was honestly really annoying to me. It seemed like they were trying to make Mia a sympathetic character, despite the fact that she committed several murders in cold blood, including a baby, because she didn't want to be found out as an accomplice to a murder that had happened 15 years earlier. All the crying and "woe is me" stuff just made it annoying, it was like they were trying to make her seem like a good person when her actions clearly show otherwise. They can make good villains, like Robert Daly, but it's annoying when they try to make a villain sympathetic.

I never got the impression they were trying to make her sympathetic, but I guess I can understand that reaction. That episode was just... super brutal. I ended up liking it in the same way that I liked White Bear and Shut Up and Dance. I can respect that it made me feel deeply uncomfortable and angry, so I give it credit for that, but I'll also probably never watch it more than a couple times.

This is going to sound rather blunt, but honestly I think Black Mirror Season 4 was way too soft and I really think the changes were mainly due to Netflix getting the series rights. Season 3 already didn't feel quite as impactfull as the previous two seasons. I wonder if it might just be because as more episodes went by it might get a little repetitive in some aspects or that you already had your expectations better set, but yeah, the first two seasons had a greater impact for me.
With all that said I did like most of the episodes of the season.
Edit: I may had been a little to harsh looking back to it...

Black Mirror is brilliant. I just noticed this thread.
I haven't watched the rest of Season Four yet (only USS Callister) but Seasons 1 to 3 are fucking great. I haven't enjoyed a show this much since a long time. I don't think I have a single favorite episode, cause each time I look at the episode list I say to myself that I cannot choose just one. But the ones I like the most are:
- Fifteen Million Merits - Hated in the Nation - San Junipero - USS Callister - White Bear

Can't wait to see what you think of Black Museum Also, heck yeah, another Hated in the Nation fan. I loved that episode, but it gets a lot of flak from some people for being "too campy"

I love White Bear but I tend to favor the more light-hearted episode like San Junipero and Hang the DJ I think.

One of the new episodes is apparently going to be set in London in the 80s. That's cool. Maybe a return to San Junipero? Not the same characters or setting obviously, but a different take on the same technology like how Black Museum was a different take on the cookies from White Christmas?

I think I can finally rank the S4 episodes:
6. Hang the DJ - I like having another happy ending episode but the message seems really confusing. Like, they find each other because they resisted against the system, but then it turns out that that's what the system was for, so the system is actually a good thing? Maybe I'm over-thinking it and it's just supposed to be a cutesy sci-fi romance episode, but if that's the case then it's not as good at being that as San Junipero :P
5. Arkangel - Okay, straight up, it doesn't go far enough. The daughter should have killed her mom. That being said, I do think this was a pretty good episode.
4. Crocodile - Absolutely brutal, fantastic ending. I liked it in the same way I liked White Bear and Shut Up and Dance, which is to say, I appreciate it made me feel very upset and angry and played on my emotions, but I won't watch it more than a couple times.
3. Metalhead - K N I F E D O G
2. USS Callister - Unpopular opinion not to place this one first I guess? I mean, it's my #3 favorite overall probably. I loved this episode in pretty much every way, I just don't think its theme is as... versatile, as Black Museum's.
1. Black Museum - This one honestly gives San Junipero a run for its money as my favorite episode ever? It's seriously just... fantastic. I think I might do a whole post or even a video for my YouTube channel once I've watched it a bunch more and I've got a better reading of it.
