Native Spanish speaker(Venezuelan) here, their Spanish sounds perfect to me and to the accents that I'm used to. The weirdness people are experiencing is that Spanish is not really a formal language, but they're speaking it in a kind of formal way because they seem to be the kind of family that really respects their elders.
Could be they did something similar to the Russian voice actors in Amid the Ruins. i.e english speaking actors speaking a foreign language. If I recall, some native speakers were talking about how awful it was in that episode. I hope that's not the case though.
I mean, I'm no language expert, but the spanish just sounds cringy. I feel like I speak better spanish.
Yeah, I have watched enough Narcos and spent enough time with my dads side of the family to know that sounds a bit off.
