I used to be a big Transformers fan until about halfway through middle school. The first series I watched was Transformers Armada in 2002, following the rest of the Unicron trilogy in Transformers Energon and Transformers Cybertron. The animated series in 2007 was pretty good too, but I lost interest in 2010 when Transformers Prime started since I had to focus on my school work. Now that Transformers RiD is starting tonight at 6 EST on Cartoon Network though, I'm eager to get back into the series. While this thread will probably focus on RiD, feel free to discuss other Transformers stuff.

I still have fond memory's of the TV series from the 80s, especially the original movie because come on, Orson Welles as fucking Unicron? AWESOME!

I'll admit my first introduction to the franchise was the first Bayformers movie. I saw a trailer in the cinema where Blackout transformed at that desert base and I was hooked. I've watched all four movies and thoroughly enjoyed them (except for the dull 'accessiblity' human shit. I'm in it for the fighting and the chaos). I'm not afraid to admit it, either. Granted the fourth one wasn't that good and I've gone off the series as a whole now. I also watched Animated and Prime. The former was really good, the art style and story were awesome and it managed to be serious without being dark or mature. At its heart it was still a kid's show but it was a good one. Prime, however, took itself a bit too seriously. While I enjoyed it as much as I did with animated (staying up to watch livestreams of new episodes) I felt like it was cut short a little and there were too many abandoned plot lines (Smokescreen Prime ). I'd say I'm eager to see where the new show goes as it's a continuation of Prime, but I'm honestly not that into the franchise any more.

I can never enjoy the Bayformers, sorry not judging at all, I just can't stand them at all.

The human subplots are boring as fuck and there's nothing much in terms of substance as a whole but they were my introduction to the franchise and I'll probably hold a soft spot for them for a long time. They're movies for 11 year olds, and I was 11 when the first one came out.

Just came back from the premiere. The art style reminds me alot of Transformers Armada, the faux CGI is a really cool look for the show @jakest123, 2 Quick quesions; I never finsihed Prime, so first off, how is Bumblebee able to talk now? In all the episodes of Prime I've seen, he looks like his Bayverse counterpart. Second, did Optimus die or something at the end of Prime, and how come he can't maintain his physical form for too long?

In all the episodes of Prime I've seen, he looks like his Bayverse counterpart. Second, did Optimus die or something at the end of Prime, and how come he can't maintain his physical form for too long? Bumblebee: Megatron shot and killed him during a battle on the Decepticon ship. Bumblebee's corpse fell into a pool of Cybermatter which healed his wounds, including his voice box meaning he could speak again. During a fight between Megatron and Optimus, Megatron is skewered by the Star Saber (legendary weapon of the Primes) and it's revealed Bumblebee is the one who killed him. Megatron's corpse falls off of the spaceship they're fighting on and his body falls into the sea, the decepticons flee and the autobots 'win'. All of that is pretty much seen in this video. Optimus: In the DVD movie follow up to Prime, Megatron is revived by Unicron, who takes over his body. A huge battle ensues with everyone who is left while Optimus searches for the allspark (which can bring cybertron back to its former glory). Pretty much the Allspark is kept in a container, but to trap Unicron inside that container, Optimus has to drain the Allspark's power out into the Matrix of Leadership (which is part of him). In doing so he successfully traps Unicron but his body can't take the strain and he has to give his live to revive Cybertron. That death can be seen in this video.By the end of Prime, the remaining autobots are: Bumblebee, Arcee, Bulkhead, Smokescreen, Ratchet, Ultra Magnus and Wheeljack, along with Knockout who defected from the Decepticons because he wanted to join the winning team. If I recall correctly Megatron and Shockwave are the only remaining Decepticons. After Unicron is trapped Megatron regains control of his body and flees, pretty much giving up on the war. Shockwave never seemed that interested in it, so he's not really a problem. Soundwave has the potential to come back if he manages to escape some sort of weird parallel dimension he was trapped in, and Starscream was murdered by Predacons. I'd definitely recommend catching up on Prime, even if you only watch the last Episode of Season 2 and then all of Season 3 + the movie, Predacons Rising. It's a fairly good series.
