Jfc, dude. I understand that this is a forum, but there comes a point where laziness with English just becomes a hindrance to communication. No one wants to read (let alone try to understand) a poorly punctuated, poorly articulated wall of text. Sorry, sometimes when something pisses me off I just keep going and going and don't even bother to check it, sorry. My point was clear though right?...no? That's why I corrected it in the first place. I can deal with the shorter stuff, but this was straight up egregious.

To be fair to Bio in one respect... the semi-colon? Good god, I wouldn't even use those in a thesis. I've literally deleted entire sentences and thought about how to reword them just so I could avoid attempting and failing to use a semi-colon properly. If my life depended on my using a semi-colon properly, I'd be at the casket shop picking out a classy final resting place right now. MAN, FUCK SEMI-COLONS. Love the colon though. (And FUCK English. Imagine explaining that one to a non-speaker. "Yeah, so this word 'colon?' Yeah, that can have two meanings. The first being a form of punctuation that you use when starting to list or describe. The second being a organ storage locker of sorts for poop.) That's because semi-colons are for smart people. A simple "thank you dfh, what would we ever do without you?" would've sufficed. Tbh, semi-colon usage is pretty much designated by pure intuition. I think I get lucky with it. Semi colons are pretty much used for expanding on a point, right? That's how I use them. I've come to a point where I just implement them instinctively. If something feels like it should have one, a semi colon probably goes there.

LOOK AT THIS MADNESS! NO ONE KNOWS FOR SURE WHAT THE FUCK A SEMI COLON IS!
It's time, America! #ErradicateTheSemiC
Another one I don't know: the dash. Like this: "Martin went to Harvard - a tradition of sorts for those from royalty, yadayadayada." No clue how to utilize a dash.

To add information into a sentence that is nice, but not necessary. For instance, in your example: "Martin went to Harvard - a tradition of sorts for those from royalty - in order to get his credentials in law."

Semi-colons are used to separate two complete sentences. No, I don't know why they exist when they have the same function as a period. I THINK it's used when you'd normally use a comma, but the second half of your sentence is technically it's own complete sentence. So it's some malformed hybrid between a comma and period.

Yeah that might be it, but I just never know when, it really helps that Microsoft Word has no idea what a semi colon is either, seeing how it always auto correct commas and periods of which I KNOW are fine.
