True Detective is an HBO Crime Drama following two Detectives, Rustin Cohle(Matthew McConaughey) and Martin Hart(Woody Harrelson) through several periods in their career. They're interviewed by two other detectives in 2012 about an occult ritual murder that they investigated in 1995, and also about when they split in 2002. The show follows Rust and Marty as they investigate the murder of Dora Lange in '95, the tension that rises between them in '02, and continues to flash forward to the present-day(ish)
This is probably one of he best shows I've ever seen, incredible acting and writing, wonderfully disturbing, and with an awesome style around everything in the show, although, I've heard that the second season will actually follow a new cast of characters entirely, but I'm not sure if the plot will be totally disconnected from what happens in the first 8 episodes.
Oh, and it has the best intro ever:

Okay, so I just found this on Season 2: www.indiewire.com/article/true-detective-season-2-everything-we-know-right-now-almost-20141118Rust and Marty won't be in Season 2 The only two actors confirmed to be in Season 2 are Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. Farrell plays Ray Velcoro, a detective torn between the corrupt police force and the mob, and Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, a career criminal trying to move into legitimate business. Same writer from Season 1, but unlike how there was one director for all 8 episodes in Season 1, Season 2 will have multiple directors. Season 2 will also be 8 episodes.

I'm almost tempted to not watch Season 2, since the ending of the first Season was so good.

I am tempted to, and I know it won't be as good, but who knows?

Season 2 teaser trailer got me HYPE. Vince Vaughn playing serious, Tim Riggins being all bad ass, Rachel McAdams and her awesome, fat white girl ass and Colin Farrell basically looking like Rust Cohle 2.0.

Rustin Cohle cannot be replaced. Also... teaser? where, I have to find it.

Awesome. Looks like it's going to be great.
But it's not True Detective Season Two. You can't make a totally different show and call it the second season of an existing show. As far as I can tell, there's still absolutely nothing connecting Season One and Two aside from them both being crime dramas.
I really don't mean to complain too much... I mean, I'm sure it will be great. But even if there was no way to continue from Season One... I mean, nothing about Season Two is similar. It's about the mob, not a serial killer. It doesn't appear to have the whole time-switching thing going on, and it doesn't have the same aesthetic at all.
I'm not saying I'm not hyped... it's just not True Detective Season Two.

Yeah, there's only one Rust Cohle in character, but the appearance Colin Farrell's character is obviously trying to convey the same look.
Should call it True Detective: Installment 2 or something. Series 2. Something.

Huh, the song in the trailer was made for the show.
I bet it's the new opening theme. In which case... yeah, not as good as Season One's. It's really great though.
I honestly wish that the lead writer had done True Detective as a mini-series, and then took the plot of Season Two, and made it a different mini-series. That way, it wouldn't have to be compared to Season One. I mean, it may even end up being better, or just as good, but i'll probably always like Season One more because of, if nothing else, the aesthetic, time-switching, and the two leads.
If they have the two connect somehow, I'll be good with it. As of now, I still don't get it...

I absolutely love T-Bone Burnett, he does all the music for the Cohen Brothers movies, but damn did he pick a great theme that was perfect.
