In chapter 1 Clementine hung back and let Sam do what he wanted In Chapter 2 Clementine doesn't want to lose him and therefore brings in authority, making him hang back and even scolding him
You can see how their relationship has developed and how much she cares. It's almost like Sam is her Clementine and she is Sam's Lee, if you get what I'm saying.

As the group approached the wind turbine they heard a loud bang and an explosion erupt from a far. "What the hell was that?" Luke asked. The lights at the Moonstar Lodge shut down, plunging the area into darkness.
"Dammit. Transformer musta gone" Kenny said. "Gotta check it. I could use a hand" he said, looking round at the others.
"I'll go with you" Luke volunteer.
"I'm coming too" Sarita added.
"No. It's to dangerous" Kenny replied sternly. "Rest of you, get this thing shut down" he ordered before running off, Luke following close behind. Sarita walked up to the wind turbine and opened up the panel, the group crowded round and stared at the darkened controls.
"Does anyone know how to do this?" Carlos asked, only to receive a shrug from Sarita. "Great" he muttered.
"I can do it" Clementine spoke up.
"We'll watch your back. Nick, scan the trees with me" Carlos ordered.
Clementine squinted as she walked up to the panel, taking out her lighter and flicking the switch, the orange flame giving the controls a bright glow. There was a red button, so she pressed it only to find that it was stiff. She looked around and noticed a key hanging on a hook. Using intuition, basic knowledge and assumptions she picked up the key and slotted it into the key shaped hole on the button, twisting the key and pushing the button. There was a loud whirling sound coming from the machine as the wind turbine's blades slowly widened down before stopping completely.
Clementine rolled her eyes at the groups stupidity, maybe it was even facepalm worthy, but she gave them the benefit of the doubt since it had been pretty dark and the controls hadn't been very visible.
The group breathed a sigh of relief while Nick continued to stare at the trees "Somethin' ain't right" he murmured.
"Yeah" Carlos agreed.
On cue, the dead came staggering out from the forest, drawn by the sounds of the once active win turbine. Carlos checked the clip of his hand gun "We don't have much ammunition left" he commented, aiming at the approaching walkers.
"We gotta get back to the lodge" Nick stated.
A rustling came from the trees behind them, they quickly turned around to see a group of walkers coming their way "They're behind us!" Nick yelled, firing several shots. Clementine took a step back as she watched the group shoot the approaching dead when she heard groans coming from behind. Noticing an approaching walker she quickly ducked for cover behind a rock. Figuring out her chances and not wanting to waste bullets she made a break for new cover, only to be grabbed by an unseen walker. She screamed and aimed her gun at the walkers head, squeezing the trigger a shot rang out and it's body fell limply to the ground.
Wrestling off the walker limp hand which gripped her arm she ran for new cover, ducking behind another rock. Hiding behind the rock she noticed Nick shooting two walkers before running towards the lodge. Clementine peered over the rock to see several walkers, at least six, staggering towards her. Clementine quickly stood up, aiming her hand gun at the approaching walkers, gripping the gun in both hands she fired at the nearest one, the bullet ripped through the walkers chest. Clementine fired again, the bullet crazed the walkers cheek so she fired again, the bullet ripped through the walkers head, it's body fell to the ground.
She aimed at another, firing several shots to put it down, one met with its shoulder, the other with it's head. She aimed at another and fired, the bullet met with its neck and the second with it's head. She aimed once again and squeezed the trigger, only to hear a small click from the gun. She was out of ammo. Shit! She cursed inside her head, glancing round frantically to see three remaining walkers hungrily dragging themselves towards her.
Gunshots rang from a far, turning to her right she saw Carlos shooting the walkers with his hand gun, saving her. Thank you, Carlos. "Run! Go!" He ordered. A walker lunged at him from behind, knocking the rifle off his back. Carlos turned and put a bullet in the walkers brain and then turned towards another and did the same "Keep going, get to the lodge!" He yelled, running off.
Clementine went to follow him when a walker came out from behind a truck. Clementine backed away, almost tripping over a dead corpse Carlos had killed. And that's when she noticed the rifle hidden beneath the walkers body. Clementine quickly knelt down and with some difficultly, pushed the walker off the rifle and picked it up. She turned back towards the walker and aimed the rifle and fired, the kick back knocking her onto her rear. The bullet had not killed the walker. She glanced at the rifle and then at Matthew's knife which was stuck in the ground. Making a decision on what weapon to use, Clementine picked up the rifle in another attempt to shoot the walker. She aimed the rifle upwards and squeezed the trigger, the recoil was fierce but on the ground it was easier to shoot. The bullet ripped through the walkers head, blood spraying out as it fell limply to the ground, landing on top of Clementine. She kicked the dead corpse off and stood up, clutching the rifle in her hands and running towards the lodge.
"Nick!" She screamed when she noticed the teenager wrestling with a walker, the rotting corpse hungrily snapping it's teeth close to his neck.
"Please help me!" He cried.
Clementine aimed the rifle and squeezed the trigger only to hear a click. "It's jammed!" She yelled aloud, trying her best to get the rifle working in time. She noticed Walter standing by the entrance to the lodge, gun in hand. He lifted his gun and aimed at the struggling walker. A dark blood sprayed out the side of its head, Nick pushed it off and looked over at Walter gratefully.
The three of them ran over to Carlos, helping him put down the walkers. Carlos turned round to see more coming from the sides "Clem.. Get inside!" He ordered. "Go!" He yelled as he and Walter shot at them. Clementine clutched the rifle in her hands before handing it to Nick.
"Here!" She told him, before running to the safety of the lodge.

Clementine burst through the doors, sprinting into the lodge. "Clementine! Are you okay?" Rebecca as her. Sam came running up to her, barking happily, Clementine knelt down and threw her arms around him, embracing him in a hug. "I'm okay" she replied to Rebecca's question as he pulled away from Sam and stood up.
Gun fire came from outside, executing the remain walkers. "What the hell...?" Alvin muttered, the three of them running up to the window and watching the massacre of the dead unfold. Four people came marching out from the trees, two of them were very familiar faces. Carver and Bonnie. The other two were not recognisable.
"Howdy, folks" Carver greeted pleasantly. "Where's Rebecca?" He asked Carlos.
"Carver...!" Rebecca exclaimed.
Carlos did not respond, instead he spat in Carver's face. "Nice to see you too" Carver responded, wiping the spit off his cheek and then punching Carlos in the face.
"Dad!" Sarah screamed, turning away from the window and running outside.
"Sarah!" Rebecca called after her, but it was too late, she was already gone. Sarah ran up to her father and hugged him, Carlos wrapped his arms around Sarah protectively as Carver stared at the Moonstar Lodge.
"Inside" he ordered simply, pointing towards the building. One of Carver's followers nudged Carlos with the barrel of his gun, getting him to move forward. Walter turned towards Bonnie, his eyes widened in shock.
"It's you" he murmured in disbelief.
Bonnie gave him a saddened expression but it quickly turned into a scornful, uncaring look "Get movin" she ordered. Rebecca and Alvin made their way towards the stairs when Carver's group came through the doors. Clementine grabbed Sam by the collar and pulled him behind the sofa along with her.
"Look at this place" Bonnie commented.
Clementine glanced over at Alvin as he crouched half way up the stairs. He made a few hand gestures, getting her to keep an eye on one of Carver's followers. Clementine paused before peering over the top of the sofa to get a view of the scene and then ducked once again. She looked over at Alvin who gestured for her to come over which she and Sam did so while one of Carver's men's back was turned.
"Johnny, cover that window" Bonnie ordered him.
Now on the second floor, Clementine and Sam ran along the landing over to Alvin and Rebecca. Clementine took a quick look at the scene below them before ducking when Carver flashed a glance her way. Carver grimaced, marching up to Carlos and grabbing him by the arm and pulling him to his feet. Carlos stumbled as Carver threw a punch his way, his fist met with his stomach. Carlos let out a pained grown and collapsed to the ground.
"Dad!" Sarah exclaimed.
"Listen, I'm only gonna ask you once. Where's Rebecca?" Carlos questioned him.
"Sarah, look at me" Carlos told his daughter who stared at him fearfully "Everything's gonna be okay". Carver grabbed Carlos' hand and snapped his finger back, a loud crack came from his bones. Carlos screamed in pain.
"No!" Sarah cried.
"Rebecca?" Carver called out. "Rebecca, our baby deserves to be raised in a place of safety. I know you're out there. *lets go Carlos' hand* And Alvin. And Luke. And the girl and that stupid dog of hers. This is real simple. You all play nice and show your faces."
"Don't hurt my dad! Please!" Sarah begged.
"He'll kill him" Alvin stated.
"No, Alvin" Rebecca told him.
"We gotta go down there"
"I can't do that" Rebecca replied with a pained expression.
"Bec... the baby... you need a doctor" Alvin told her.
"No. Where's Luke and Kenny?" She asked, almost as if she was praying for some miracle to happen.
"We have to help Carlos" Clementine stated.
"The only way to help him is to do what the man says" Alvin responded.
"What about Luke and Kenny?"
"Look at those guns. If we start shootin people are gonna die, on both sides."
Carver snapped back another of Carlos' fingers. Carlos screamed in pain and agony. "DAD!" Sarah yelled.
"Clem can sneak out. Find Luke." Rebecca suggested.
"What the hell's she gonna do?" Alvin questioned. "And you heard him. Carver knows she's with us"
"Just stop! Don't hurt my dad, please!" Sarah begged, a sob in her throat.
"We're goin' down there" Alvin told her.
"He'll kill you"
"Fuck you. Shoot him! Somebody just shoot hi--" Carlos began when Carver grabbed him by hair and pulled his head back, putting a knife to his throat.
"Clem, go get help" Rebecca told her.
"He'll kill him, Bec!" Alvin cried, his voice rising.
"He'll do it anyway"
"You don't know that"
"Say goodbye, Carlos" Carver told him.
"Don't look, sweetie. Don't look." Carlos told his daughter.
"I'll find Luke and Kenny. Stay here." Clementine suggested.
"Goddammit." Alvin breathed.
"You never listened to me" Carver told Carlos.
Alvin crouch walked over to the window and opened it up "Hurry!" He told her. Sam whimpered and looked up at Clementine.
"I'll be back soon, boy" she told him, hugging him. "Stay here, with Alvin and Rebecca. Keep them safe"
"Let's see if I can get your attention" Carver called out, putting the knife to Carlos' cheek.
Clementine climbed out of the window and jumped down, landing heavily. She glanced up at the window to see Sam peering down at her. She sighed deeply, her breath visible in the winter cold as white flakes of snow fell from the dark sky.

Clementine walked up to the boarded up doors and stared through the glass to see Carver punching Carlos in the face. Clementine winced at the abuse Carlos was suffering as she pushed herself off the door and walked round the side of the building, pausing at the corner.
She glanced around to see Kenny standing in a control booth for the ski lift "Clem!" He yelled. She made her way towards him when she noticed Carver's follower standing by the window. She paused and watched as he moved away, muttering to himself "Goddamn it's dark"
Clementine stared through the window before crouch walking, sneaking past. "Can't see a fuckin' thing". Now past the window, Clementine ran across the patches of white snow towards Kenny, the dampness of the flakes clinging to her clothes and tangled hair. The sound of Carlos' pained screams followed.
"Are you all right?" Kenny asked concernedly
"What are we gonna do?" Clementine responded.
"I don't know" he whispered. He went to aim when he noticed Rebecca, Alvin and Sam walking downstairs, finally revealing themselves. Carver threw Carlos to the ground, a satisfied smile on his face when he saw Rebecca walking up to him. He moved towards her, lifting his hand and caressing her cheek.
"Fuck you, Bill" she growled.
"Looks like they got everyone" he commented. Even Sam... I shouldn't have left him in there! Clementine thought to herself. "Who are these guys? Can we take 'em?" He asked her. "I got a pretty clear shot on one. Just a little bit to the left, you son of a bitch" he muttered.
"We have to try." Clementine responded.
Kenny stared down the top of his rifle and fired. The glass shattered and the bullet ripped through the guys forehead, his body fell limply to the ground. Clementine gasped in surprise "Got him!" Kenny cried triumphantly.
Carver narrowed his eyes, he marched over to Walter and pulled him to his feet, marching him over to the window and pushed him to the ground. Walter met eyes with the picture of him and Matthew. He closed his eyes and braced himself for the inevitable as Carver pressed his gun into the back of Walter's head and pulled the trigger.
"No!" Carlos cried. Blood trickled from the hole in the side of Walter's head, his body lied still.
"Walt!" Kenny cried.
"Oh, my god" Clementine breathed.
Kenny aimed again as Carver ducked behind a pillar "That was for our man!" He yelled. "Now, I didn't want to have to do this, but you ain't leavin' me much choice. So here's what's gonna happen. I'm going to march another one of your friends out here and put a bullet in the back of their head. Or you could give up now. Your choice."
A gunshot was fired, the bullet scraped the pillar, chipping off pieces of wood. "Motherfucker" Kenny cursed. He fired again but missed.
The two looked around frantically "Kenny, over there!" Clementine suggested new cover. The two ran towards it, taking the new cover and aiming for the window.
Carver walked up to Alvin when Sam began to bark wildly. "Well, well, well. If it isn't the little attack dog. Come on boy, we're going for a little walk" Carver told him, grabbing Sam by the collar and dragging him over to the window.
"Sam!" Clementine cried when she saw him, Carver's gun pressed into the back of his head.
"I got a clear shot from here" Kenny muttered, staring down the top of his rifle.
"Is Sam in the line of fire?" Clementine asked.
"No, he's out of range" he told her.
Clementine stared at the Moonstar Lodge for a moment, thinking hard. "What if you miss?" She asked worryingly.
"I won't miss, it's hard not to miss" Kenny replied confidently.
"But what if you do, he'll kill Sam!"
"He won't. If he's as smart as everyone says he is he won't waste a bullet on a dog" Kenny told her, only to see the expression on Clementine's face fall. "Oh shit, I didn't mean it like that, Clem... Sam's not-"
"I know what you meant" Clementine replied harshly.
Kenny aimed at Carver once again and glanced at Clementine "I gotta make a decision, Clem. It's now or never, what should I do? ... Clem?!"
"SHOOT HIM!" She cried, panic in her eyes. Kenny squeezed the trigger, the gun fired and the glass shattered, and Carver fell to the ground. Sam yelped at the sound of the gunshot, trembling in fear. "Sam, run!" Clementine yelled.
Carver's grip on Sam's collar had loosened so taking his chance the dog ran. Clementine's eyes widened as she watched in horror as Carver rose to his feet, clutching his bleeding shoulder and aiming his pistol with one hand... and pulling the trigger. Two shots were fired, a bright flash came from Carver's gun followed by a loud yelp and then silence.
"SAM!" Clementine screamed, tears almost immediately forming, stinging her eyes and staining her cheeks. "No..." She whispered softly, a sob in her throat. Her legs began to tremble, almost if they would gave weigh underneath her grief stricken body.
Kenny lifted his head and turned to look at Clementine, sadness in his eyes. "Oh Clem, I'm-" he began. "Sarita!" He cried when he saw Carver holding his gun to her head.
"I can keep this up all night!" Carver yelled.
Kenny paused, figuring out his options before standing up "We're comin' out!" He stayed, dropping his rifle. The two made their way towards the door, Bonnie pushed them open and aimed her gun at them.
"Lets go"
Clementine and Kenny walked into the lodge, Clementine paused when she saw Sam's body lying slumped down on the stairs, a pool of blood circling around him, staining the floor red. Clementine let out a small sob. She wanted to go over to him, to hold him in her arms... But she couldn't. She felt the barrel of a cold metal gun press against her back. "Move" Bonnie commanded.
"Don't look Clem... Just, don't look" Kenny whispered.
Clementine closed her eyes and turned her head away, walking up stairs. Clementine and Kenny were handcuffed and forced to kneel. Carver glanced over at Sam's body and walked up to him, kicking the lifeless dog in an attempt to get a reaction. A small huff of breath came from his body.
"Just stop!" Clementine screamed.
"Leave him! You've done enough!" Carlos yelled.
Carver grabbed Sam by the collar and dragged his body over to Clementine and dumping him in front of her. Clementine slowly lifted her head only to notice that Sam's head was still intact... There was no bullet in his brain. Instead his back was bleeding, blood slowly trickling down and soaking his brown fur. His legs seemed to be twitching violently, spasing out of control. Sam's head moved ever so slightly to face her, his eyes full of pain and suffering. He was still alive.
"Sam..." She whispered softly.
"Where's Luke? Carver questioned. "Finally cut and run, huh? Why am I not surprised?" He said while pacing. "I warned you. I warned you not to follow him. And look where he's lead you" his words were aimed at Carlos. "But you're safe now" he said, his head turned towards Rebecca "we're going home. As a family." Rebecca stared at him angrily. "All right. Round 'em up. We're headin' back to camp."
One by one the group was marched away until only Clementine and Sam remained. Clementine stared at Sam sadly as Bonnie grabbed her by her arms and dragged her away. Sam whimpered softly.

NEXT TIME ON THE WALKING DEAD: MANS BEST FRIENDClementine leaned over Sam's body, stroking his fur soothingly. "He ain't looking too good, Clem" Kenny commented. "You sure he'll make it?"
"Sam has been through more than you can believe... He's gone through so much but he has survived... And so have I"
"You have to save him, Carlos! There's got to be a way!"
"Don't you see? I can't. Not without medical supplies. His spine is... Damaged. He can't move. He can't do anything. Even if I could remove the bullets it would take a long time for his spine to repair itself... That's if it does"
"You must have medicine. You have to get me some" Clementine begged Bonnie.
"I can't do that. If Carver found out that someone stole from him then he'd line us all up and kill one of us. And the person who takes the fall won't be the person responsible" Bonnie replied.
Carver paces up and down. The group are in a line and he pauses in front of Nick. He takes out his gun and aims it at Nick and pulls the trigger.
BANG
"AARRRGHHHH!"
"If someone doesn't own up soon this kid is gonna be fulla holes"
"I don't need much. Just something to help with the pain. You can make what Carver did right. Sam didn't do anything wrong but he took that bullet! He didn't deserve that... No one deserved it. Please... Please help me save my dog"
"I'll see what I can do" Bonnie replied, giving into the little girls pleading.
"Thank you"
"How's your little doggie friend?" Carver asked, his arm around Clementine's back.
"He's not doing so well after you shot him" Clementine replied coldly.
"I wouldn't have shot him if your friend Kenny hadn't shot me"
"Why did you bring him here?! You could have left him back at the lodge but you didn't! Why are you making him suffer?!"
"It's a reminder. It's to let you and everyone else know that if you ever try to escape from me again, then next time it won't be a dog taking the bullet. It will be one of your own"
