Huh, so interesting note about the story from Kotaku's reivew: Evidently a lot of AC lore, MD plot stuff, and most of the battles with mythological creatures are part of an optional endgame story. The reviewer seemed to like this part of the game a lot more than what preceded it, and said it was a shame it was all optional. So... that's interesting. It's the only review I've read that was critical of the story(every other one said it was one of the best in the whole series), but even then it says there's an entire other side to the story that was really enjoyable.

wow, ACG gave it a pretty glowing review Doing pretty well I see. Lot of people are saying the story is more grey then usual. Which is interesting.

Highlight of my game so far is single-handedly fighting three high level mercenaries by drawing them out into the woods and then hiding in bushes and pestering them with arrows and stealth attacks, occasionally fighting directly to do some big damage, getting it down to a low-level merc and one that was much higher level and throwing fire bombs at me, engaging the fire-bomb merc close-range to limit her fire damage, then finally getting the headshot right as her last firebomb landed at my feet and burned me alive.
Anyway the game is fantastic and I love it. To early to say but it might legitimately be my favorite Assassin's Creed game

Beating Black Flag to me sounds impossible but close second seems possible. The fact it has a Shadow of Mordor Nemesislike system is a massive massive plus.

I will say I think I prefer Black Flagβs naval combat, and obviously I canβt really judge the story until Iβve completed it, but in a lot of ways I am confident in saying I like Odyssey more than Black Flag. The mercenary system is really great. Not as complex as nemesis, but still awesome. Plus, there are some mid-game features of it I still need to unlock, so maybe it becomes more complex?

Well obviously Origin's had better melee combat then AC4, I never hated the old system but this is clearly better. The world is great, being able to an asshole without the game starting over plus dialogue choices is all around amazing. I'm beyond sold for this frankly.

Ok so there's a bit in the story where you've got to deal with this guy called The Monger and by the time it's time to face him you have the choice of fighting him in public at the theater(to send a message to the people and also this woman who has a lot of power in the city and info you need wants you to), or assassinate him in this sacred cave(keep his death quiet, which is what this one Spartan spy wants). I opted to go for the fight in the theater despite otherwise playing stealthily bc I wanted the woman to like me, but the whole time I'd been in this city I was being hunted by a mercenary called "The Sensible". So when the fight in the theater starts I take out The Monger's two guards and get ready to fight this giant dude who looks like he could crush me. I'm kinda scared and thinking I might not win, when The Sensible, who'd already killed me a couple of times, shows up. I'm pretty much ready to just take the loss, but for some reason, The Sensible actually attacks The Monger? idk if he secretly was a good guy who wanted The Monger dead as much as me or if the bounty on The Monger was just more than the bounty on Kassandra, but yeah. I just kinda sit back and let the two of them fight, The Sensible is quick, bleeding The monger out with a bunch of rapid knife cuts, but that fucking hammer The Monger wields caves his skull in. R.I.P. Sensible, you will be missed, but thankfully The Monger was wounded enough that I didn't even really need to fight him, he gave up, and I let that woman have her girls literally tear him apart in front of the crowd.
Anyway, again, this game is heckin awesome and I love that it allowed a totally random mercenary to just kill a boss for me lol

This game looks pretty noice, though I haven't been able to take any particularly good pictures since I have zero photography skill. Only thing I'm disappointed in graphically is there doesn't seem to be any facial expression on the enemies mid-murder which kinda ruins some combat shots. Anyway here's the only half decent one I've got so far.

On the downside I got to a part of the story where you can't leave Athens until you finish it and an npc i need spawned outside of Athens lol
I saw this glitch mentioned in a review and like.... This seems like it a pretty bad glitch? Granted I can just reload and that should fix it I heard but yeah, weird.
Only other glitch I encountered was this one which was p funny

Okay so anyone who's been playing as Alexios, if you've started the hunt for the Cult of Kosmos yet I'm kind of curious: How is Kassandra as Diemos? Or, is she called Diemos or does she have a different name? idk seeing Alexios as Diemos was like, one of the best moments of the story for me just bc I was 100% not expecting it and he's been a really interesting villain so far. I know that regardless of who is who, the story stays largely the same, but idk I'm just curious?

Wow ok so I just got to the part of the story where my choices start to come back on me and one can back and seriously screwed me over lol Spoilers for most of everything up to the quest "A Bloody Feast" So as I said in an earlier post, I opted to let the hetaerae(prostitutes, basically) literally tear The Monger apart limb from limb in front of a crowd in the theater in Korinthe. As it turns out, now literally everyone knows I was responsible for the death of The Monger, so later, when I tried to convince a cultist named Lagos to join my side, he didn't trust me because of what I did to The Monger. So even though I tried to spare his life, he attacked me and I had to kill him. This was all part of a larger story of trying to find out which of the two kings of Sparta was a cultist, and when you return to Sparta after dealing with Lagos, you have to present your proof to this council. Unfortunatley, I only had 4 of the 5 clues, bc you can only get the fourth clue by convincing Lagos to join you. The council didn't believe me bc I didn't have all the clues, so I was exiled from Sparta and now and a bounty was placed on my head. So now I have to infiltrate a city crawling with mercanaries much higher level than me to kill a king.
I checked and yeah if you have all the clues then the council exiles the king instead and you can just kill him outside of Sparta lol I'm not sure if I like this or not. On the one hand, it makes perfect sense, and actually is a rare example of choices having real consequences on not only the story but gameplay as well, but on the other it just feels bad bc if I wanted to fix this mistake I'd have to go back and replay literal tens of hours of the story. Which, ultimately forced me to live with my choices... which... I think, overall... is a good thing.
