I'm not very far into this yet(well, I've played more than 4 hours of it) but I'm making a thread because why not? (Also because it's a really good game)
At first I had trouble with an annoying glitch at the start that forced me to keep starting again on different saves until eventually the glitch was gone. But here's my actual opinion of the game:
It takes a little while to get going, but once it gets going, it really gets going. After the first(or maybe technically second) cutscene featuring the xenomorph, it will actively hunt you down. Most of your encounters with the alien will be completely unscripted, unless you're very stealthy and lucky. The creature mostly travels through vents, and sometimes when it's near you, you can hear it moving in the vents and hissing. My most recent encounter with it was actually a bit funny- I was using the motion tracker(a radar) and realised there was a lifeform very, very close to me. So I decided to hide in a vent. Turns out, the xenomorph was in that vent. It jumped out at the same time that I climbed in, and it glitched through me. When I got out on the other side of the vent, the alien looked around for a short while, then climbed back up into a different vent.
Whenever I'm near the xenomorph(not including scripted events) I feel tense and genuinely nervous(even when the situation is kind of funny). You can't outrun it, it's faster than you. You can't kill it, your weapons do no harm to it. Your only options are, hide or die. And if you hear it getting closer to your hiding spot, your heart really gets pumping. Of course, it's not the only enemy in the game. There are humans, who generally tend to have guns and should be avoided, and there are Working Joes, which are malfunctioning androids trying to kill you, which should also be avoided. I've been killed by Working Joes a lot more than I've killed Working Joes- hell, I've only killed one, and then I ran out of bullets. Those things really take a lot of damage.
Something I love about this game is that the AI will try to trick you into thinking you're safe when you're really not. One time, I was in a locker, hiding from Working Joes(I've been in that situation quite a few times now, actually). A few WJ's entered the room I was in and looked around, commenting on not being able to find me. Two of them left the room. Nobody followed them and I couldn't see any other WJ's in the room, so I assumed it was safe to get out of the locker. Then another Working Joe that was hiding beside my locker killed me. I'm not sure exactly whether the game planned that or not, but it felt like those Joes really did lure me into a trap, and the author of a review I read had a similar experience with the alien.
I guess that's really all I can say about the game for now, other than if you're choosing whether to get the PC version or the console version, get the PC version because the console versions are capped at 30FPS due to hardware limitations.
